With gazillions of different diaper brands out there, it’s hard to know which ones to buy for your baby. By doing your research and comparing the brands, you can narrow down the list of diapers you’d like to try. Here we’ve gathered all the information about Dyper diapers in one convenient post for you.
*Disclaimer: This post is in no way sponsored or endorsed by Dyper. I’m just a mama who knows how to use her keyboard to find information. Any mistakes or inaccuracies in this post are my own, and I will gladly correct them with the right information, once I know about it. To find further information about Dyper diapers, visit their website at www.dyper.com.
Here’s my completely subjective review of Dyper diapers. These diapers are sturdy and plain-looking. I was expecting these diapers to be really soft, but they are not the softest diaper out there.
Dyper currently makes their Simply Kind diapers and now they have a new Charcoal Enhanced diaper as well. Diaper Dabbler carries only Dyper's original Simply Kind diapers.

Dyper diapers are currently manufactured in China. I confirmed this with Dyper’s customer service, and they let me know that they are moving their manufacturing to North America. Currently the Dyper diapers sold at Walmart are using the North American manufacturer.
The diaper packaging from the diapers that Diaper Dabbler currently carries states that these Dyper diapers are made in Mexico.
The reviews online are pretty positive, but you won’t know how a diaper works for YOUR baby until you give them a try! Try a sample for yourself, and get a few other brands to compare side-by-side. What do you like best?

While Pampers does make Easy Ups, they are really training pants instead of a diaper. Their ingredients and features are really very different than the diapers, so we’re not going to be comparing them for this blog post.
While all Pampers diapers have some of the same features, (like being hypoallergenic and including a wetness indicator) there are differences between the different styles. It’s helpful to understand the features of each diaper to know which diaper brands you’d like to try. Each diaper fits and feels different, and it’s helpful to try a variety of diaper brands to find the perfect fit for your baby.

With gazillions of different diaper brands out there, it’s hard to know which ones to buy for your baby. By doing your research and comparing the brands, you can narrow down the list of diapers you’d like to try. Here we’ve gathered all the information about Millie Moon diapers in one convenient post for you.
*Disclaimer: This post is in no way sponsored or endorsed by Millie Moon or Target. I’m just a mama who knows how to use her keyboard to find information. Any mistakes or inaccuracies in this post are my own, and I will gladly correct them with the right information, once I know about it. To find further information about Millie Moon diapers, visit their website mymilliemoon.com/.
Here’s my completely subjective review of Target’s Millie Moon luxury diapers. These are a fluffy and super-soft diaper. Millie Moon advertises that theirs is a “luxury” diaper, and it certainly FEELS that way! These diapers have sizing that runs a bit smaller (weight range) than typical sizing, but the diapers look (comparatively) to be around the typical size range. Millie Moon does not make a newborn size diaper, but starts at size 1.
These diapers are a little tough to classify. Are they eco-friendly? Millie Moon diapers are fragrance free, hypoallergenic and carry the OEKO-TEX certification. They are vegan and cruelty-free and made with sustainable sourced wood pulp, but aren’t claiming to be an eco-friendly diaper. Millie Moon diapers aren’t a typical low-cost “store brand” diaper, even though they are exclusively sold at Target. Millie Moon claims to be a whole new category, a “luxury diaper”. At roughly $.23 per diaper in the store, that’s a pretty good price point for luxury.
Millie Moon diapers have a wetness indicator in all sizes. Millie Moon diapers are hypoallergenic.
Feeling overwhelmed with all the diaper brands available? You can try a variety of diaper brands quickly and easily to compare and find your favorite.
-No lotion
-No latex
-made with sustainably sourced wood pulp
-wetness indicator in all sizes
Millie Moon diapers do have slightly different sizes than “typical” US diapers. Notably, they do not make a Newborn size diaper, but their size 1 diaper runs a bit smaller than a standard size 1 diaper.
size 1 | 6-11 lbs. |
size 2 | 9-18 lbs. |
size 3 | 13-24 lbs. |
size 4 | 22-33 lbs. |
size 5 | 28-39 lbs. |
size 6 | 35+ lbs. |
Millie Moon diapers are certified by PETA to be cruelty-free and vegan. No animal testing on Millie Moon’s finished product or ingredients.

Millie Moon diapers are certified by OEKO-TEX to be free from 100 top harmful substances.
Millie Moon diapers are certified by Dermatest to be gentle on baby’s skin by being free from contact allergens and reactors.
Millie Moon diapers are made in China.
The reviews online look good, but you won’t know how a diaper works for YOUR baby until you give them a try! Try a sample for yourself, and get a few other brands to compare side-by-side. What do you like best?
Millie Moon diapers are now available in Diaper Dabbler’s Sampler Packages! Find them in the Prepared Parent Diaper Sampler Package or Build Your Own Custom Diaper Sampler Package.

]]>Diaper Dabbler prides itself on carrying the diaper brands that parents want to try. And to do that we need to ask the question. A huge thanks to the parents that took the time to answer our survey! (Did you miss our survey? You can still add your answers HERE)
Not really surprising, but Huggies and Pampers came out on top as most parent's "go-to" diapers. Huggies won out by a narrow margin. But after that, there's a wide variety of brands that parents use.
Most parents surveyed tried 3-4 diaper brands before deciding on their favorite diaper brand. But almost as many parents tried 10+ diaper brands before coming to their final decision. Sometimes you really do need to #tryallthediapers before deciding!
Only one single parent surveyed found their favorite diaper brand on the first try.
There are SO MANY diaper brands to choose from! Parents are loving the ability to try a variety of diaper brands in ONE BOX to compare. Diaper Dabbler will stay on top of the trends to keep only the best and favorite diaper brands in stock.
We love making the Diaper Sample Packs that parents want to try!
]]>Many parents don’t want to support diaper brands that promote animal testing. Thankfully there are ways to know if a diaper brand utilizes animal testing. Most of the eco-friendly brands are boldly proclaiming their cruelty-free status. The brands that don’t make any mention of animal testing, or use confusing or unclear statements about their brand’s animal testing…usually are testing on animals.
Some brands label their products ‘free from animal testing’, others use the words ‘cruelty-free’, and still others will share their certification. Leaping Bunny is the only internationally recognized certification for cruelty-free practices. PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) also has a database of companies that do not utilize of animal testing.
If a brand doesn’t test on animals, they are shouting it from the rooftops (or their laptops). Kimberly-Clark and Procter and Gamble, the makers of Huggies, Pampers and Luvs use animal testing in “some of their products”. My rule of thumb is if they can’t say “yes” or “no” if they use animal testing in the making of their diapers…they probably do.
I’m trusting each brand to declare if they test on animals. These brands report no animal testing with their diapers.
Amazon’s Mama Bear Gentle Touch
Of course, this is not an exhaustive list. Just the brands that Diaper Dabbler carries. You can easily complete your own research on Google or check on a specific diaper brand not listed by checking their website.
With a Diaper Dabbler Sampler Package, you can try a variety of diaper brands side by side to compare and find your favorite! Choose from eco-friendly, store brand and name brand diapers in the sizes and brands YOU want to try.
Overall, many of the eco-friendly brands of diapers are stepping up to declare that they do NOT test on animals. The “big name brands” and the store brands are less clear with their statements on animal testing, but their company track records often speak for themselves.
Happy diapering!
]]>In our Exploring Baby Registries series, we are aiming to demystify online baby registries by looking at the features of each one and giving you the information you need to choose which one is right for you! Come along on the journey, today we’re looking at MyRegistry baby registry.
*Disclaimer: This post is not endorsed or sponsored by MyRegistry. All opinions are my own and information obtained was from my own internet research. For more information about MyRegistry, visit their website at www.myregistry.com.
MyRegistry is one of the major online baby registries. You may already know about them if you used their online wedding registry. They boast more than 168,000,000 gifts added to registries. That’s a lot of presents!
MyRegistry can be your one-stop-shop for all your baby registries. You are able to sync all your store registries into one online gift registry!
Another unique feature is the ability to snap a picture of a gift you want (offline) and add it to your registry along with the information for where to buy it. That’s a great option for Mamas who want to shop locally and with small stores that don’t have an online shop.
MyRegistry has a Sample Registry as well as Inspiration Boards and a Baby Registry Guide with gift ideas and top picks. They even have a section with recently added gift items. You can see in real-time what others are adding to their registries!
You can register for gifts you find across the internet, from big box stores online to Etsy or other small unique shops. Even better, you can do this from your home computer, phone or tablet!
MyRegistry has an “add to MyRegistry” button for your shopping convenience. Add it to your bookmarks, and you can quickly and easily add items to your baby registry you find while surfing the internet on your laptop.
Use the MyRegistry app to keep your registry close to you. You can add items on the go by scanning the barcode, snapping a photo or while surfing the web.
MyRegistry allows you to sync (import) your registries from so many different stores; Target, Walmart, IKEA, JCPenny, Buy Baby Buy, and Amazon, just to name a few.
MyRegistry also has a cash gift fund option. Name it “diaper fund”, “college education” or “refinishing the basement for a playroom”…whatever you want your friends to be able to donate money towards!
You can easily share your registry on social media or your blog, send e-cards or download and print cute and friendly reminders about where you’re registered.
Starting a MyRegistry baby registry was simple. You can start it on your laptop or on your mobile device. You can add your shipping address to your registry so friends and family have that info when shopping for you.
If you’re using your laptop, you can get an “add to MyRegistry” bookmark button that will make it quick and easy to add anything across the web to your registry. If you find something you like while on the web, just click the “add to MyRegistry” button in your bookmarks and it’s added to your registry.
To add a gift from your mobile device while browsing the web, just click the “…” in the corner and Share. “Add to MyRegistry” will be an option, and that web page will be added to your registry. It almost couldn’t be simpler!
Now, the fun begins! Go find your favorite baby products from across the web, and don’t forget about your favorite small shops!
And may I suggest registering for a Mega Mom Diaper Variety Package (or any Diaper Dabbler Sampler Package). It is the perfect gift to help you decide which brand of diapers will work best for your baby.

In our Exploring Baby Registries series, we are aiming to demystify online baby registries by looking at the features of each one and giving you the information you need to choose which one is right for you! Come along on the journey, today we’re looking at Blueprint registry.
*Disclaimer: This post is not endorsed or sponsored by Blueprint. All opinions are my own and information obtained was from my own internet research. For more information about Blueprint, visit their website at www.blueprintregistry.com.
Blueprint is one of the newer online baby registries. You may already know about Blueprint if you used their online wedding registry. They also offer registries for fundraising or other celebrations.
Blueprint is a very visual baby registry. When you’re creating your Blueprint baby registry, they have a room-by-room layout for building your registry. You can visually see what areas you’ve registered for and where you have yet to go. They will offer you suggestions for each room (or area) of your registry.
Blueprint’s website has Sample Registries and Gift Guides to help you find popular items that others register for. You can also register for gifts you find across the internet, from big box stores online to Etsy or other small unique shops.
Blueprint allows for “group gifts”, where a group of people can each pay for part of a gift for your baby.
Blueprint has an “add to Blueprint” button for your shopping convenience. Add it to your bookmarks, and you can quickly and easily add items to your baby registry you find while surfing the internet on your laptop.
Blueprint allows you to import your existing baby registry, to keep everything in one place.
Blueprint has a Gift Tracker, allowing you to manage your gifts and Thank You cards.
Blueprint also offers a free concierge call to help you get started or while you’re creating your registry. They also offer email and phone support for questions.
Starting a Blueprint registry was easy. You can start it on your laptop or on your mobile device. You will have the ability to customize it by uploading a profile picture and cover photo (it looks like Facebook!). You can also add a message to your friends and family.
If you’re using your laptop, you can get an “add to Blueprint button” that will make it quick and easy to add anything across the web to your registry. If you find something you like while on the web, just click the “add to Blueprint” button in your bookmarks and it’s added to your registry.
Once you’ve started your registry, your registry options will be laid out. You can go category by category and register for recommended gifts in those areas.
Blueprint registry works well on both mobile and laptop. However, if you’re building your registry on your mobile phone, you can only add items to your registry that are in their recommendations. You’ll have to move to your laptop or desktop and use their “add to Blueprint” bookmark button to add products from the web.
When your friends and family are checking out your registry, they have the option to ship the gift our home or theirs (you give Blueprint your address when you sign up).
Baby registries are not private. Anyone can search for your name and see your registry. You will be given a direct link to your registry that you can share with your friends and family.

]]>In our Exploring Baby Registries series, we are aiming to demystify online baby registries by looking at the features of each one and giving you the information you need to choose which one is right for you! Come along on the journey, today we’re looking at Target’s baby registry.
*Disclaimer: This post is not endorsed or sponsored by Target™. All opinions are my own and information obtained was from my own internet research. For more information about Target’s baby registry, visit their website at www.target.com.
Target baby registry is one of the few remaining in-store baby registries. The beauty of this baby registry is that you can use it in store OR online! It really is the best of both worlds! And…it’s Target. Enough said.
Target’s baby registry could be the perfect baby registry for everyone! Do you like to shop in-person and look, feel and compare baby items? You can register in-store! Would you prefer to do your registering in your pj’s at 2am? Online registering for the win! With Target, you can do either or both. Aunt Edna who hasn’t mastered shopping online can buy your gift in store, and your jet-setting friend who is currently away on business can order and send her gift online.
Target also offers a FREE Welcome kit for new registries. Just stop in at Guest Services (in-person) to receive your kit with coupons and samples.
Target’s baby registry has an online checklist to keep you on track while registering. You can see all the categories (90 of them!) and check them off as you add them to your registry. You also can see a list of items most added to baby registries. Now that’s helpful!
Target's mobile app connects to your baby registry through your account. You can use it when registering in-store or online.
Target (like other universal online baby registries) has a bookmark button to add gifts from all over the internet, from other online stores, to Etsy or other small unique shops. Add it to your bookmarks, and you can quickly and easily add items to your baby registry you find while surfing the internet on your laptop.
Target offers an extended return period (one whole year) for gifts purchased from your baby registry. Target also has a registry completion discount. As your due date approaches, you receive a coupon for 15% off items remaining on your registry. Now that can add up!
Target Baby Registry also has a “group gift” feature. For items over $100, gift-givers can elect to contribute towards a gift. Once the full value of the gift you registered for has been paid, you would receive a gift card for the amount (for you to purchase the item on your registry). This feature can be turned on or off in the settings of your baby registry.
Starting a Target baby registry was simple. Sign in with your Target account and it will populate your name and shipping information for you. Just add your due date and you’re good to go! You can add a custom message or photos to your registry.
If you’re using your laptop, you can get an “add to Target registry” bookmark button that will make it quick and easy to add anything across the web to your registry. If you find something you like while on the web, just click the “add to Target registry” button in your bookmarks and it’s added to your registry.
Target’s mobile app makes it easy to add items from Target to your baby registry. Adding items from stores other than Target needs to be done on your non-mobile device. Your Target mobile app can act as a scanner to scan Target items in-store!
After you add items, you can designate some as “most wanted” items.
Now, the fun begins! Go find your favorite baby products from Target or from across the web, and don’t forget about your favorite small shops!
And don't forget to register for a Mega Mom Diaper Variety Package (or any Diaper Dabbler Sampler Package). It is the perfect gift to help you decide which brand of diapers will work best for your baby.

*Disclaimer: As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Amazon has the biggest selection of baby gear (and everything else). Having choices when shopping (and registering) is always a good thing.
Not only can you register for anything that Amazon has, their registry is also Universal. That means you can add items from all over the web to your Amazon Baby Registry.
Amazon has a registry completion discount. As your due date approaches, you can purchase items still left on your registry for 15% off (for Prime members)!
Amazon also offers a FREE Welcome Baby Box after a minimum purchase from your registry is met. It does NOT automatically get sent to you, you have to follow a few steps to get your box…but it’s worth it! Check out step-by-step How to request your Baby Box
Amazon has a Thank You list, which details who bought you which gift.
With Amazon’s generous 90 day return policy, you can easily return or exchange any gift that isn’t quite what you wanted.
For more expensive items on your Baby Registry, you can choose to allow ‘Group Gifting’. This gives your guests the ability to give any amount towards a large-ticket item. Their “gift” is in the form of an Amazon Gift Card.
For example, if all 4 of your Aunts want to go in together to buy you this amazing stroller you registered for, they can each contribute $100 towards it. You will receive $400 in Amazon Gift Cards, so you can purchase that stroller (or anything else you would like).
You can also set up a Diaper Fund and friends and family can contribute Amazon gift cards towards one of your biggest baby expenses.
Starting an Amazon baby registry was easy. Go HERE and log in. Follow the simple directions and you’re all set! You’ll see the option to “Add to Baby Registry” under the “Add to Cart” button in Amazon.
If you want to add items from outside Amazon, download the Amazon Assistant to your computer. As you’re browsing the web and see an item you want to add to your registry, click on the Amazon Assistant and Add to List or Baby Registry.
They’ve got a gift guide for that! Check out Gift ideas for baby, most wished for in Baby, best sellers in Baby, top picks in Maternity, and Amazon premium stroller store.
Now, the fun begins! Go find your favorite baby products from Amazon or from across the web, and don’t forget about your favorite small shops!

In our Exploring Baby Registries series, we are aiming to demystify online baby registries by looking at the features of each one and giving you the information you need to choose which one is right for you! Come along on the journey, we’re going to start with Babylist baby registry.
*Disclaimer: This post is not endorsed or sponsored by Babylist. All opinions are my own and information obtained was from my own internet research. For more information about Babylist, visit their website at www.babylist.com.
Babylist is one of the most popular and well-known online baby registries. They boast that 1 in 5 first-time families create a Babylist baby registry, and that over $12 million in gifts have been given using the Babylist registry.
With your Babylist registry, you can register for physical products AND gifts you can’t put a price on (think: dog walking, home cooked meals, babysitting services).
Babylist offers a free app and registries are available from any device you use.
Currently, Babylist is offering a free Hello Baby Box with new registries. This is something we’re seeing more often now as online baby registries are working to offer some of the same benefits as their in-store counterparts.
Babylist’s website has Sample Registries (like this one from Pregnant Chicken) and Gift Guides on their website to help you find popular items that others register for. You can register for gifts you find across the internet, from big box stores online to Etsy or other small unique shops.
Starting a Babylist registry was VERY easy. You can start it on your laptop or download their app. Visit their website at www.babylist.com.
If you’re using your laptop, on most browsers you can get a “Babylist button” that will make it quick and easy to add anything across the web to your registry. If you find something you like while on the web, just click the “Add to Babylist” button in your bookmarks and it’s added to your registry.
If you’re using their app to add products, click on the + symbol and search or type in the website address you’re looking for. Once you find what you want, use the “Add” button in the bottom corner.
You will have the option to add notes to each registry item. You can make note of which color or style you’d like, or just mention that you’d really like that item.
You will specify your mailing address in your registry. When your friends are shopping your registry, they can choose to have the gifts sent to them or sent directly to you. Your guests will choose which gift they want to buy, and then come back to let your Babylist registry know that they have bought the gift for you. You’ll have access to a great “thank you card” list for after your shower!

A good sign that it’s time for an overnight diaper is when your normal daytime diaper is handling its job during the day but not at night. If you’ve got leaking issues during the daytime and at nighttime, you’ve probably got a diaper fit issue you need to solve first. But if you’ve just got an absorbency issue, it might be time to think about an overnight diaper.

Your baby might be ready for an overnight diaper once they start sleeping for longer stretches at night. Gasp, sleeping through the night is possible! If your baby’s regular diaper brand is working during the day, but leaking at night, that’s a pretty good sign it’s time to consider an overnight diaper.
An overnight diaper is a diaper designed to hold more liquid! Most overnight diapers will add more absorbent material which can make the diaper a little “fluffier” or less trim.
Overnight diapers are designed to hold more liquid. When babies sleep longer at night, you need a diaper that can hold all that urine. If your regular everyday diaper is up for the task of overnights, then great! But if you find your regular diaper isn’t quite enough to get through the night without leaking, it might be time for an overnight diaper.
Nope! If your regular everyday diaper is still doing its job overnight, then you are good! All diapers are designed with the hope of being good enough for daytime AND nighttime. But some babies (especially as they get older) pee more and need more absorbency at night.
If you find your baby’s diaper is leaking or overfull only at night, it may be time to consider an overnight diaper. Overnight diapers will hold more wetness than a regular diaper.
You need your baby’s diaper to fit. Most parents buy their normal size diaper or one size bigger. Bigger diapers have more absorbency (think bigger “real estate” for soaking up those fluids), but you don’t want it to be too big that it can’t cinch tightly around the legs and waist. Use your judgement here. If you’re about to grow out of size 3, you could try size 4 overnight diapers and see if they work yet. But if you just started using size 3 diapers, you’ll probably want to try size 3 first.
Just like with regular diapers, you may need to try a variety of overnight diaper brands to find the best fit for your baby. Every brand varies in their fit and absorbency, so you may need to try a few to find the best fit for your baby.
NO! Surprisingly, most diaper brands do not make overnight versions of their diapers! Every diaper brand wants to be the favorite for all of the time, and only a few make a targeted overnight diaper. Top brands making overnight diapers are Huggies, Pampers, Seventh Generation, Hello Bello, Target’s Up & Up and Walmart’s Parent’s Choice.
Pro tip: you can make ANY diaper more absorbent by adding a Sposie booster to it. Think of it like an extra pad of absorbency you can slip into your baby’s normal diaper. What a clever idea. I sure wish I had invented it.
If your regular everyday diaper doesn’t make an overnight version, fear not! You can always use another brand’s diaper for overnight (it’s totally allowed). OR you can add a Sposie booster to your current diaper and see if that added boost of absorbency is enough to get you through the night.
Our favorite overnight diaper brands include Huggies Overnites, Pampers Swaddlers Overnight, Seventh Generation Overnight, Hello Bello Nighttime, Up & Up Overnight and Parent’s Choice Overnight. You can try an Overnight Diaper Sampler Package to try each brand side-by-side and compare to find your favorite.

With a Diaper Sampler Package, you get to try a variety of diaper brands side-by-side to compare and find the perfect diaper for your baby
Now that you know which diaper is the cheapest…that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the right diaper for YOUR baby.
If you choose a diaper that doesn’t fit your baby well, it will leak. Figure on doing a whole bunch of wet or poopy laundry daily and changing them more frequently.
If you choose a diaper that isn’t as absorbent as another, you’ll be changing diapers more frequently. This adds up over time.
If your baby has sensitive skin or gets diaper rash from a specific diaper brand, you’ll spend time and money treating the rash and changing diaper brands to one that doesn’t bother your baby’s bottom.
Subscriptions or memberships cost money. If you fall in love with Sam’s Club or Costco diapers, you’ll buy a club membership yearly (or pay a higher price per order). To get the best price on Amazon, you’ll need to have Amazon Prime and pay their yearly membership.
Store brand diapers can typically only be purchased at their stores (or online from their stores). But often the best prices on all other diapers are found on Amazon.
Amazon also offers a Subscribe & Save feature. This, coupled with their FREE Amazon Family program, can save you 20% off their lowest prices on diapers shipped right to your door. Figure in the savings of NOT having to drive to your local store for diapers in the middle of the night. 😉

Here’s my completely subjective review of Sam’s Club Member’s Mark diapers. These are a trim and soft diaper! They are a wide diaper, which may work well for “chunky” babies. By touch, a comparable diaper would be Walmart’s Parent’s Choice diapers (their current line of diapers, the soft ones).

]]>Choosing the right diaper for your baby comes down to trial and error. Every baby is unique and each diaper brand is as well. The only way to know for sure that you have the right diaper for your little one is to try them out. Maybe you’ll get lucky on the first try, or maybe you’ll find a bunch of wrong diapers before finding the perfect one for your baby.
There are lots of things to consider when you’re choosing which diaper brands to try for your baby;
Obviously a diaper needs to fit your baby right. This means not too tight or too loose at the legs and the waist. Some diaper brands run more narrow or wider, taller (longer) or shorter. Many diaper brands follow the same weight/size guide, but some can vary.
Diapers that are either too loose OR too tight can leak.

Some diaper brands include specific features that parents want. Many newborn diapers include an umbilical cutout (or umbilical contoured shape) to avoid the sensitive umbilical area.
Some diaper brands include a wetness indicator to give caregivers a visual cue for when the diaper is wet. In many brands it is available in newborn through size 2. In some brands it is available in all sizes.

Babies typically have more sensitive skin than adults. And sometimes they get diaper rash from being a little too sensitive to their diapers. Fragrance, lotions, additives or even specific ingredients in diapers can cause reactions. There may be some trial and error with this, but you will often find that the more eco-friendly diaper brands will have fewer ingredients and less reactions than other diaper brands.

While your diaper fit and baby’s sensitivities may guide you in your diaper choices, YOU are the parent buying the diapers. More and more, consumers are making buying decisions based on ideologies. You may narrow down the choices of diaper brands based on factors that are important to you.
Want to minimize your impact on the environment? You may consider eco-friendly diapers
Want to support American jobs? You may consider diapers made in the USA
Are financial considerations your first priority? Store brand diapers or couponing for name brand diapers may be your best bet
Are you a last-minute buyer or prefer in-person shopping? You may want to choose diapers available at your local stores (as opposed to online-only)
There are lots of things to consider when deciding on a diaper brand for your baby. The diaper needs to fit baby well, function as it should (not leak or cause problems) and feel right to your family. Spending a little time in the beginning researching diaper brands, narrowing down the choices and trying a variety of diaper brands will give you confidence in preparing to diaper your new baby.
Pro tip: keep track of which diaper brands you've tried and what you liked or disliked about each. You can use a free download to keep track or our Diaper Sampler Packages always include a card to use and compare brands.
From birth until potty training, you will spend plenty of time and money on diapers. Be confident you have the best diaper for your baby.

But, as someone who handles different diaper brands all day long, I have some opinions about which diaper brands might be some of the first to try when you’ve got a ‘Skinny Mini’ on your changing table.
Related article - Which Diaper Brands are best for Chunky Babies?
Please know, these are my opinions. The best way to find the perfect diaper fit for your baby is to try them out. You won’t know how any diaper fits your baby until it is on their bottom.
Try a variety of diaper brands in ONE BOX and compare side by side to see which fits your baby best.
Babyganics – these diapers are narrow, perfect for smaller babies
ECO by Naty – while these diapers look like a wider diaper, their sizing is smaller than most diaper brands. I think this brand is worth a try on skinny babies
Pampers Pure Protection – a frequent customer recommendation
Luvs – another customer recommendation
There are many factors to consider when deciding on a diaper brand, how eco-friendly it is, if it is hypoallergenic, has a wetness indicator or is fragrance-free. But the main deciding factor is how the diaper fits. And you won’t know that until you try it out.

Alternatively, diapers without an umbilical cutout can be folded over in the front to place it below the umbilical area.

Biodegradable basically means that an item (in this case a diaper) will decompose or break down and return to soil naturally. This sounds like a great thing, as we’ve all heard that it takes hundreds of years for diapers to decompose in landfills. It would be awesome to find a diaper that would just disappear back into dirt.
This sounds like composting. Are they similar? Yes! Compostable diapers are designed to decompose back into organic matter in a commercial facility using specific conditions (temperature, moisture, organic matter, etc). Composting goes much faster than just tossing a diaper in the dirt and waiting for it to decompose naturally. Unfortunately, commercial compost sites are few and far between, and backyard composters can rarely handle diapers.
Of all the eco-friendly disposable diaper brands available on the market today, are any of them biodegradable? Truthfully, none are 100% biodegradable. Many of the more sustainable disposable diapers available have some biodegradable components, or less toxic alternatives, but none that I’m aware of are 100% biodegradable. There are a few diaper brands that are close (think 60-70% biodegradable in ideal conditions) but they are some of the most expensive.
All diaper brands use at least some plastic components (at a minimum the elastic leg gussets and sticky fasteners). So, if you tossed a used diaper out into the back yard and just left it there to decompose on its own, even in the best-case scenario there would be some parts of the diaper that would be left behind and not decompose.
Keep in mind that if you roll up your diapers into a tight ball and shove them into a plastic garbage bag which mixes in with truckloads of other garbage bags and gets all dumped together and buried in a landfill…no matter how “green” your diaper is, it won’t decompose.
Many eco-friendly or “green” diapers use some ingredients (or components) that are biodegradable. Yeah!
Look for diapers containing:
Plant-based fluff (wood pulp and corn or wheat-based absorbent are examples)
Bamboo
Plant-based components (instead of petroleum-based)

"So excited to have stumbled upon this resource! I wish I had discovered it sooner! I was trying to find a truly eco-conscious diaper and was overwhelmed after my research, so I bought a few kinds from the store. The Mother Earth Variety pack from Diaper Dabbler let me try all of the ones I was looking at online! It was so helpful and allowed me to easily decide which ones I didn’t like and which one I wanted to go with long term. I highly recommend it!" -Mandy
Most diaper brands have varying degrees of biodegradability (how much of their diaper will decompose in ideal conditions), but few can give you specifics about it. In addition, there are many who throw around words like “biodegradable” without actually understanding what it means. That means to do your own research on the components that make up your diaper. Find out what they use, and you’ll be able to know if they can decompose.
Brands like Bambo Nature and ECO by Naty are some of the top eco-friendly diaper brands.
A quick cheat is to consider the more eco-friendly diapers should be some of the most biodegradable. Not every one works out that way, but more often than not.
Find more on diaper research: Diaper Brand Research and Information Page
While some use the term biodegradable interchangeably with “green” or “eco-friendly”, they are decidedly different. There are no 100% biodegradable disposable diapers, but many with some biodegradable materials. When choosing diapers, look to the materials a diaper is made from and how it meets your priorities and your baby’s needs.

"I'm so happy to have found a site that offers sampler packages of a variety of brands! I hear so many stories of babies having sensitivity issues, so it's nice to have this option and not have to waste whole packages if a brand doesn't work.
Also, very speedy shipping!" -Kristen C.
Diapers aren’t cheap. There is no way around that. When calculating how much diapers cost, most people calculate it in cost per diaper. If a box of diapers contains 200 diapers and it costs $20, the diapers cost $.10 per diaper.
Name brand diapers like Huggies, Pampers and Luvs are widely available and you can often find sales and coupons for them. These diapers range in price, but overall are moderately priced options.
Related article: How to Stockpile Diapers before Baby is Born
Store brand diapers are another low-cost diapering option. Most stores have their own store brand; Target has Up & Up diapers and Walmart has Parent’s Choice. These can sometimes be comparable to name brand diapers in cost and value. Not all parents love store brand diapers, and not all store’s brand diapers hold up as well as their name brand counterparts.
Eco-friendly diapers cost more than their mainstream counterparts. There is no way around that. Some are pricier than others. But if you value their ecological impact, or if your baby is sensitive to some chemicals commonly found in other diapers, these are great diapers and definitely warrant consideration.
Amazon has a Subscribe & Save program though Amazon Family, where you can schedule your deliveries of diapers right to your door and save 20% off. This is often the very best deal for you if you have an Amazon Prime membership and once you know which brand of diapers is the right one for your baby.
When deciding on what brand of diapers to buy, you should consider where you want to buy diapers. Is it important to you to be able to get your diapers locally? Do you want to be able to pick up diapers when you are out running errands or grocery shopping? If you’re looking at store brand diapers, you’ll want to consider if that store is local to you or if you shop there regularly.
Is online shopping right for you? Do you have an Amazon Prime membership? Are you a planner and able to wait for shipping or are you a “oh my goodness we just used the last diaper” kind of family?
Name brand diapers are available almost everywhere, store brand diapers are only available at their stores (think Target, Walmart, Walgreens), some eco-friendly diapers are available at retail stores, but most are only available online.

Many new parents like to read reviews when deciding about baby items. I find that most diaper reviews aren’t too helpful. What brand works for one baby may not work for another. So one million Moms will rate a brand 5 stars, and another million Moms will rate it 1 star.
Popularity can lend some advice when choosing a diaper brand. Ask your Mom friends what they used and what they loved. Online forums will tell you some popular diaper brands as well.
Diaper Dabbler’s Diaper Sampler Packages include most of the popular brands of diapers, and some you may not have considered.

What is in a diaper is often a consideration for parents of babies with sensitive skin. Some ingredients may be irritating to baby’s sensitive tushy. If you know your baby may have sensitivities (for example, if Mom or Dad have sensitive skin), you may choose a diaper with fewer chemicals.

One of my good friends is pregnant with her first baby, and she asked me (an “experienced” Mom of two) what were my favorite gifts I registered for, what I loved and what I didn’t really need. Oh boy! I don’t know if she knew what she was getting herself in for when she asked for my opinion.
Sorry, girlfriend. You get a blog post dedicated to my favorite things I got from my baby registry, or didn’t get and had to buy for myself.

No need to buy whole boxes of different brands to try, you can try a variety of Diaper Sample Packs in ONE BOX! It is worth its weight in gold to know, right from the start, that you’ve got the right diaper for your baby.
I breastfed both my babies. For my first, my most-used item was a breastfeeding cover. This helped me feel more comfortable about feeding my baby in public. To be honest, I did not use it at all with my second child, though.
On the same breastfeeding topic, buy all the nursing shirts! I wore these nursing camis everyday for YEARS. The nursing camis are great, because you can wear a cardigan or any other clothing over it and still keep your midsection covered while nursing. Brilliant!
What you may not know about me, is I cloth diapered my babies. My first was almost exclusively cloth diapered, while my second child wore cloth diapers part-time and disposable diapers when convenient. I wrote about part-time cloth diapering here
One of my favorite carry-over items is a good wetbag. For those who don’t know, a wetbag is a waterproof bag that you can put any wet or smelly item into and zip it closed. It keeps moisture and smells contained, and then you can wash it! For those who don’t cloth diaper, it can be used for dirty or wet baby (or Mom) clothes, exceptionally smelly or wet diapers if you don’t have access to a garbage can, wet swim suits, or so many other options! This is one versatile item I still use today even though my kids are big. Monkeyfoot Designs is my favorite brand of wetbag. Bonus points for being a small Mom-owned shop!
I am a huge fan of wearing babies. I have tried and used many baby carriers through the years and found two favorites. The Baby K’tan was a lifesaver for having a newborn. Easy to put on, no complicated wrapping or tying, you can quickly and easily snuggle up with baby on the go or just give your arms a break. Once baby gets bigger, it is time for a bigger carrier. I loved this one, but many other Moms rave about their Ergo or Tula. It’s so handy to keep your babies close while having your hands free. My babies were always so much more content (and often sleeping) when they were being carried.
I said earlier that I breastfed my babies, so we used bottles infrequently. The bottle warmer we bought was useless to us (although I passed it down to another Mama who loved having it).

We never used a highchair cover. A cart cover at the grocery store, yes. But the dedicated highchair cover was never even opened.
Hopefully this list was helpful for a little extra Mom advice on what you want to make sure to add to your baby registry. Happy registering!
]]>But, as someone who handles different diaper brands all day long, I have some opinions about which diaper brands might be some of the first to try when you’ve got a ‘Chunky Monkey’ on your changing table.

Please know, these are my opinions. The best way to find the perfect diaper fit for your baby is to try them out. You won’t know how any diaper fits your baby until it is on their bottom.
Bambo Nature – these diapers generally run big and roomy. Watch their sizing, they are different than standard diaper sizes!
Huggies Little Movers – these diapers have elastic that is meant to move with baby and have some of the most thigh room
Pampers Cruisers – like their Huggies counterpart, they have elastic to move with baby and extra thigh room
Babyganics – another narrower diaper option that leaves more leg room
Luvs – a frequent customer recommendation. Mom’s say they have the biggest leg area
There are many factors to consider when deciding on a diaper brand, how eco-friendly it is, if it is hypoallergenic, has a wetness indicator or is fragrance-free. But the main deciding factor is how the diaper fits. And you won’t know that until you try it out.
Many adoptive or foster parents don’t need to follow a “traditional” baby registry checklist due to so many unknowns about the child they’ll be bringing into their family, but there are many reasons to make a baby registry just the same.

Some people are planners. Especially while waiting for a placement, planning for your new child can even be therapeutic!
Creating a baby registry or wishlist can be fun, like window shopping. Or you can use it as a way to organize your thoughts, wishes and research on the products you will want to use. Even if you don’t make your registry or wishlist public, it can still be beneficial to you.
But do consider making your registry public. Friends, family and coworkers may want to buy gifts for you to celebrate your new family addition and may not know what to buy. Giving them some guidance can make this time a little less uncomfortable for them (and save you answering at least ONE question).
Some adoptive parents have a baby shower either before or after a child is placed with them (a “sip and see” is a newer shower trend where a gathering is held after baby is born/placed). But even without a shower, many friends will want to give gifts during this wonderful life event!
There are SO MANY choices for baby registries! Gone are the days when we had to register in-person at a local baby store, now many baby registries are online and universal (meaning you can register for gifts from anywhere).

Some baby registries even cater specifically to adoptive and foster parents by not requiring “due dates” or allowing “adoption fund” as a gift option. Amazon, Babylist, Blueprint, MyRegistry.com and Target Registry all have options that are Adoption friendly.
You can go online and search “baby registry” and find a million different checklists of what you will want to add to your traditional baby registry.

With adoption and foster care, you may not want to register for things you don’t know you’ll need. For example, you may not want to order newborn baby socks if your “baby” turns out to be 6 months old. Sticking to the basics and filling in the gaps after you know more about your child may be the best way to go about shopping for your newest addition.
Generally speaking, since there are many unknowns with adoption and foster care, registering for clothing is really a guess. And you might end up wrong; wrong size, wrong gender, wrong season…
If you really want to register for clothing, look for adjustable clothing like these classic pieces from BeyaMade. They are adjustable to fit from baby to toddler.
While you will very likely need bottles, your baby may show preference to one bottle brand prior to placement in your home. In that case, you’ll probably want to use what you know works.
Thankfully there are many great choices in gender neutral colors and patterns for your nursery/bedroom, clothing, baby gear and toys. You may not be very happy to register for a pink frilly car seat to be placed with a bouncing baby boy!
With so many surprises and unknowns in the adoption and foster care process, having the basics you’ll need to welcome a new child into your home can be comforting. Planning and dreaming in advance of your placement can be fun and useful.
Enjoy this special time of planning and preparing!

]]>Many expectant parents want to start getting ready for their new baby by buying diapers early. But how will you know how many diapers to buy for each size?
Babies can go through 2000-3000 diapers during their first year alone! Some estimate 6000-7000 diapers total until potty training. Yikes! 😱
How many diapers your baby uses depends on how frequently they are changed and how frequently they soil their diapers.
This is tough to know. Babies are all different sizes and grow on their own schedule. While some babies are born small and wear newborn diapers for 2 months, other babies are born big and skip newborn diapers altogether!
Fortunately, we can take an average of many babies to find some common numbers. Please note, these are numbers drawn from averages. Your baby might be (probably will be) different than average.
Size | Number of diapers | Number of boxes |
Newborn | 200 | 2 |
1 | 452 | 2-3 |
2 | 792 | 5 |
3 | 1192 | 7-8 |
4 | 863 | 5-6 |
5 | 1738 | 13 |

Every baby is different, and some babies have more sensitive skin than others. You may need to try a variety of diaper brands to find a diaper that works for your baby’s skin, or you might be lucky that any diaper works.
Many stores have a generous return/exchange policy when it comes to unopened diapers. This may change because of COVID-19. After you figure out what kind of diapers you like, you may be able to exchange the boxes you have for the ones you want. If not, you can sell what you can’t use on Marketplace or a resale website to recoup some of your investment.
Try a variety of diaper brands with a Diaper Sampler Package! This Mega Mom Diaper Sampler Package includes 12 brands of eco-friendly and name brand diapers.
There are some things to consider if stockpiling is right for your family.
-Do you have the space to store diapers? Diapers take up room, and if you’re buying in advance, you could need to store them for a year or more! Diapers also need to be stored in a DRY location. Tossing them in a corner of the damp basement might not be the safest choice.
-Can you afford to buy in advance and let that money sit in the corner for a year or more? Knowing the financial and space constraints, is it worth it for you to buy diapers ahead? Also, consider the ramifications if the diaper brand you buy ahead doesn’t work for your baby. You might be able to exchange at the store, but otherwise you might have to sell at a loss.

If you want to buy something to get ready for baby, you can buy gift cards for Amazon or your local store to save for diapers. Other parents stockpile household goods, like toilet paper, paper towel or toothpaste. Wouldn't it be nice to not have to run to the store for basic household necessities with an infant?
Adding diapers to your baby registry is a great way to tell your friends and family what you want. In addition to boxes of diapers, you can add a Diaper Sampler Package to your registry as well!
Babies go through thousands of diapers, for some families it makes sense to stockpile diapers before baby is born. This is a good guideline for how many diaper boxes you might want to buy.
