Which Diaper Brands are Fragrance Free?

Are you one of those people who are sensitive to smells? Or maybe your baby has sensitive skin and reacts to chemicals in traditional scented diapers. For many reasons, some parents are looking to fragrance free diapers for their babies.

I am one of those Moms who developed a “super-sniffer” in pregnancy. Smells of any kind bothered me…a lot. After my second child, I never lost that. So heavily scented diapers are not my favorite kind. A pregnant Mom recently contacted me to ask which diaper brands are unscented, so that she could create a Custom Diaper Sampler Package gift with ONLY unscented diapers. I was happy to help and share the information with her, but realized that she’s probably not the only Mom who wants to know.

Fragrance free vs. Perfume free

Before I get to the goods, here’s a little background on fragrance and perfume. According to the dictionary, fragrance and perfume are the same thing (the words are interchangeable). But commonly, fragrance is a more blanket term for any scent, while perfume is a more concentrated scent.

Different brands of diapers label their “scent” differently. Some call them fragrance free and others say they are perfume free. Are they the same? According to my nose, they seem to be. All these diapers I will call “unscented” smell unscented to me and are advertised by their manufacturer to be fragrance free or perfume free.

In short, I don’t know the chemical components of all diapers. I know what the diaper manufacturers advertise and what I can smell. Fragrance free diapers smell just the same to me as perfume free diapers.
